Vigilant Incorporated is a rapidly growing specialty millwork and furniture company specializing in wine cellars and high-end cigar cabinetry. Located in Dover, NH and employing over 35 people, Vigilant is a leader in the markets in which it competes.
Charlie Griffiths-President
Education: BA, Connecticut College, New London, CTMBA, Boston University, Boston, MA
Mr. Griffiths has over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience, 11 of which have been spent building Vigilant. After receiving his BA in Government from Connecticut College in 1984, Mr. Griffiths worked in several start-up ventures in commercial and residential real estate. After spending time at Campbell Soup Co in the late ‘80s he received his MBA from Boston University in 1991, and joined the Daily Bread Co. in Portsmouth, NH as the Marketing Manager and eventually became the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Vigilant was founded by Charles Griffiths and Greg Filias in 1995 in Portsmouth, NH. The founders recognized the need for superior, high capacity cigar cabinetry and created the Reliance 1000 cigar cabinet. The family of products grew to over 25 within three years and were marketed directly to the public and through tobacconists nationwide.

Vigilant, Inc. offered a great opportunity to grow a high-end consumer products company on a national level. Having worked with Mr. Griffiths at the Daily Bread Co., Mr. Brown felt that the timing was right to take advantage of this opportunity. Mr. Brown previously worked for R.J.R. Nabisco in financial planning and analysis for the Planters and Life Savers division and as a business consultant with Baldwin & Clarke in Manchester, NH.
